ScanNCut: Cutting an Art Quilt

Date: Saturday, June 17th, 2017
Time: 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM

An art quilt can be a very scary concept with just a pair of scissors, but with your ScanNCut, you can create a beautiful art quilt panel in a day! Join us to make this one panel from an art quilt called Through the Garden Gate by Sewing with Nancy.

Class Description and Materials Needed
In this class we will go over how to scan in a pre-made art quilt pattern and then how to cut out and piece layered applique.  We will not be sewing or quilting the panel together.  The pattern for the Garden Gate Art Quilt Panel will be provided.  If you wish to purchase the full quilt pattern, it will be available for $7.99 in the store.  I recommend ordering a layer cake of 10" fabrics in multiple colors (like a quilter's basic, pastel or crayola set) to get the colors you need.  I ask that you bring your fabric already ironed on to a piece of Appli-Stick.  We have some available in the store, and you are welcome to come early to iron your pieces together.  Please call with any other questions.

You will need:

-Your ScanNCut
-Your Scanning Mat
-Your High-Tack Mat ( Also known as a Standard Mat with High Tack Backing)
-Your Standard Blade
-13 10" square quilt colors, with Appli-Stick Applied: 1 Light pink, 1 Medium Pink, 1 Dark Pink, 1 Light Green, 1 Dark Green, 1 Gray, 1 Purple or Dark Gray, 1 Tan, 1 Brown, 1 Light Blue, 1 Dark Blue, 1 Yellow, 1 Dark Yellow.
-One 11"X17" Peice of fabric "Sky Blue" for the background.

I will give instructions on how to properly finish your panel without having to sew blanket stitches around all of those tiny pieces.  Those instructions will be a printed hand-out.  If you do not own a ScanNCut, and want to try using one, let us know and you are welcome to borrow ours.
