Class Description

The simple clean lines of this design are reminiscent of the styles of the 1940's but with a modern asymmetrical twist. It is the perfect size to house all the essentials for a day at the office, or out and about in the town or country. It is made with two contrasting fabrics and is suited to anything from tweeds paired with corduroy or velvet for autumn/winter to heavy cotton canvas or patterned linen for spring/summer. The flap template doubles as an interior patch pocket, of which you can add one, or two. The Sedgeford Bag’s approximate finished dimensions are Height 9in (23cm), Width at widest point 14in (36cm), Base width 2in (5cm) Strap length is approximately 40in (102cm).

 

Materials Needed (these are estimates depending on fabric used)

• Sedgeford Bag Pattern (available at Schiller’s $10)
• ½ yard fabric for exterior upper
• ½ yard fabric for exterior lower
• 2/3 yard fabric for lining
• Fusible interfacing (sf101)
• Bosal or stiff interfacing
• Magnetic snap
• 2 large buttons (1 ¾ “) or fancy pin
• Webbing for strap
• Thread to match
