Class Description

Two of MY favorite sayings are :

  • “All tests are easy…if you know the answers”
  • “ Everything is difficult…until it becomes easy”

I am introducing this class with these sayings because Gail Yellen is one of those rare individuals who can take a subject (in this case sewing with a serger) and help answer your questions so that what you thought was difficult…becomes easy.

Gail recently assembled many of her tips, techniques and knowledge into a book which has just been published by Fons & Porter.  We are so impressed with this book (and of course Gail) that we requested that she use it as the basis for a first-of-its-kind class.  Gail has graciously agreed to create this class just for us (and you).

This class is being offered as two 1-day, hands-on, classes.  You can take either or both of the classes.  The cost for each day is $75 (including all kits, lunch and snacks).  If you take BOTH days you will get a signed copy of Gail’s new book (can’t beat that).

Day 1 will focus on the overlock portion of your serger.  Gail will take you step-by-step through a variety of stitches, presser feet accessories, and thread options.  She will also cover threading, tension, differential feed and needles.  You will be doing hands-on projects to reinforce these lessons.

Day 2 will focus more on those sergers that have coverstitch capabilities.  Similar to Day 1, Gail will cover the variety of stitches, accessory feet and thread options that open up to you when your serger has coverstitch abilities.  You will again be doing hands-on projects to reinforce these lessons.

IMPORTANT:  IF YOUR SERGER DOES NOT HAVE COVERSTITCH BUT YOU WANT TO COME TO THIS CLASS, DON’T DESPAIR, JUST LET US KNOW AND WE WILL MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE A MACHINE TO WORK ON.

This really is a first-of-its-kind set of classes.  Come learn with one of the best sewing educators in the world (she literally just “wrote the book”).  Register early because space is limited.
