Class Description

Decorate your home this fall with this pretty wall hanging.  Simple piecing of pinwheels and fun and easy applique are blended together to make a “little bitty” wall hanging for your autumn season!  I used a beautiful pack of earth toned fabrics that ended working out very nicely.  I love making fall decorations and this project is a real pleaser.  The applique is done with double sided fusible web for an incredibly easy edge-stitching method.  The piecing is just half-square triangles made into little pinwheels.  The entire quilt is only 12 1/2” x 18”!!  A beautiful and seasonal wall hanging for even the smallest space!  This will be a two day class for Monday October 9th and 16th so we will be charging $20.  We will also be offering a one day full class on Saturday October 14th so the charge will be $25.00.  We have the pattern here at the store already for you and the price is $9.50.  Wishing you all a peaceful autumnal season, and we hope to see you in class!!

Materials and Preparation

Materials:

  •   Vintage Blessings Wall Hanging Pattern
  •   Scraps of fabric in various colors for the applique and pinwheels
  •   (1) piece of fabric cut 14” x 14” for the background (cream colored)
  •   (1) fat quarter for the backing
  •   ¼ yard fabric for the binding and tabs
  •   Fusible web for applique’s (I prefer Lite Steam a Seam II)
  •   Micron pen or embroidery floss for the birdies eye
  •   12” dowel or other display hanger

Prep:

  •   From your pinwheel fabrics, cut (6) light squares each measuring 3” x 3”, and (6) dark squares each measuring 3” x 3”.
  •   From the background fabric, cut (1) 13” x 13” square.  After applique is complete, this will be trimmed to 12 ½” x 12 ½”.
  •   From the binding fabric, cut enough 2 ½” strips so that when pieced, the binding measures at least 70” in length.
  •   For the tabs, cut (3) 2 ½” x 5 ½” strips
