Pet screen is very easy to sew with and this bag gives you a perfect palette for the addition of some great summer themed fabric. The tote is sturdy, washable and has six outside pockets for all of those smaller items that we all need with us even at the beach or pool.
Summer Screen Beach Bag by “Tote It”
Beach weather is just here and we have just the project for you! Pet screen is very easy to sew with and this bag gives you a perfect palette for the addition of some great summer themed fabric. The tote is sturdy, washable and has six outside pockets for all of those smaller items that we all need with us even at the beach or pool. This tote is available in two sizes, Large 15”W x 13”H and Xlarge 24”W x 18”H. We made the size large. We hope you will come and try making this cute and practical tote!! See you in class!!
You will need:
THE FOLLOWING CUTTING DIRECTIONS ARE FOR THE VERSION “A” TOTE. AS YOU SEE FROM THE PATTERN PHOTO, THERE ARE OTHER VERSION OPTIONS YOU CAN CHOOSE FROM. IF YOU PURCHASE THE PATTERN AHEAD OF TIME, YOU WILL HAVE THE DIRECTIONS TO CUT OUT THE OTHER VERSIONS. PLEASE COME WITH EVERYTHING CUT OUT FOR CLASS!
Main body of the tote: Cut (1) piece of screen 21” x 32”
Bottom support: Cut (1) from cardboard or foam core board 6” x 13”
Bottom support cover: Cut (1) from fabric 7” x 30”
Strap: 3 yards of 1” wide webbing or cut (2) 4 ½” wide WOF strips of fabric
Strip A: Top of bag – cut (2) strips of fabric 3 ¾” x 22”
Strip B: Pocket – cut (2) strips of fabric 6” to 9” (depending on how wide you would like your pockets) x 22”
Strip C: Lining – (2) strips cut same as Strip B – you can use the same fabric if you wish
Strip D: Trim – cut (4) strips of fabric 1 ½” x 22” of a contrasting color or use piping
Don’t use heavyweight fabric for both B and C (pocket and Lining). If you use heavier weight fabric for the pocket such as denim or home dec fabric, just use a cotton for the lining. If both your pockets and the lining are cottons please follow the cutting directions below for adding batting between the pockets and lining.
Batting: use a thin one – cut (2) pieces approx. 1” larger in all Dimensions than strip B.
