Sweet Pea - Santa's Cookies Placemat

Continuing with our Christmas-In-July theme, this fun holiday mat by Sweet Pea Designs is a great project for the kids (or kid at heart) to leave out for Santa!  In this class we will be making the 5 x 5 hoop designs.

The placemat requires four separate hoopings in a 5 x 7 hoop.  Then we will be using a sewing machine to join the squares together.  You will add the backing and bind the square using a sewing machine.

The registration fee for this class includes the required Sweet Pea designs. The actual designs will be distributed at class time.

Fabric Requirements:

• 5 pieces of 5" x 5" batting

Pocket:

• Fabric A - (7"x13") for the pocket
• Fabric B - (7" x 7") for the Pocket Lining
• Ribbon - 1/2" x 7" or Glitter vinyl 1" x 7"

Santa Block:

• Fabric A - (7" x 7") for the background
• Small pieces of fabric to applique - clothes, beard, face & shoes

Star Block:

• Fabric A - (7" x 7") for the background
• Small pieces of applique fabric/glitter for 4 stars

Santa's Milk Block:

• Fabric A - 3 strips 3.5" x 6"
• Fabric B - 1 strip 3.5 - 6"

Backing

• Fabric of your choice - 15" x 15"

We will have a limited number of fabric kits available for purchase for $10.95

Other Requirements:

• Embroidery sewing machine with 5 x 7 inch hoop (or larger) - limited rentals available
• Cutaway stabilizer
• 10 spools of various colored embroidery threads
• Bobbins
• 90/14 embroidery needles
• Applique scissors
