Have you ever looked at a plain sweatshirt hanging on a rack and thought anything other than, “wow that has got to be the most unflattering garment in the world…”!  In this sweatshirt transformation class, we will turn that unflattering, baggy, ill-fitting sweatshirt into a nice fitting, attractive jacket or topper.  We will be using “Creative Sweatshirt Jackets Book 2” by Londa Rohlfling as a reference for this class.  With just a few simple steps and some help with the included pattern pieces in the book, you will be on your way to creating your very own sweatshirt masterpiece!  After you begin tearing into your purchased, oversized sweatshirt, you can start fitting and deciding how you would like to embellish it.  This is a very creative and inspiring process!  I assure you, this may be your first sweatshirt transformation but it probably will not be your last!  This will be a two day class during the week, or if you are not able to attend on weekdays (due to those pesky jobs) I will also be running an all day Saturday class.  The cost will be $20 either class.  This does not include the cost of the book needed.  We have the book here at the store for purchase and it runs $22.95.  You will always have the patterns included so the book will be a continual reference for you.  I hope you can join us for this exciting class!!

  •   Creative Sweatshirt Jackets – Book 2 (here at the store)
  • (1) Oversized – at least a size 2XL – sweatshirt with regular set-in sleeves (avoid the raglan style, as it exaggerates thehips). Also, purchase one with a fiber content of 80% cotton/20 polyester.  Not the cheaper ones with 50% cotton/50% poly.  Pre-wash the sweatshirt and any fabrics and any washable trims.

the beautiful sweatshirts she sells!

  •   Invisible (monofilament) thread for couching any yarns o ribbons that you may want to use to embellish your sweatshirt.
  •   Fabric to coordinate, such as polar fleece for lengthening or extending the arms, cotton batiks and silk Dupioni for accents and any type of trim that you might like to add to your sweatshirt
  •   Interfacing for the accent fabrics: woven or knit, fusible is preferred.
  •   Fusible stay tape for shoulder seam support
  •   Sewing machine in good working order
  •   Serger – optional
  •   Good pair of dressmaker shears
  •   Chalk marker or erasable marking pen
