This is one of the most popular classes we have ever run.  It's been a while so it's time to do it again.

Try this fascinating combination of weaving and sewing! Tubes of fabric are woven in the classic tumbling block pattern without ever having to sew a "Y seam! No piecing or quilting is required. And, it is completely reversible so you can choose to use a different border fabric on each side to make two different looks. This project will require two class sessions to complete and I have included cutting and some pre-class sewing instructions for you to complete before arriving to class. This will help assure that you can go home with a completed table runner!

Cutting Instructions (based on 42"- 45" fabric)

  1. From light fabric:Cut (10) 3" strips crosswise (selvage to selvage)
  2. From medium fabric: Cut (2) 3" strips crosswise and (14) 3" X 33" strips lengthwise (parallel to selvage)
  3. From dark fabric, Cut (2) 3" strips crosswise and (14) 3" X 33" strips lengthwise
Create the tubes:
  1. Fold each strip of fabric in half lengthwise, right sides together and sew into long tubes using a 1/4" seam allowance.
  2. Turn all the tubes right side out with your Fasturn Tube Turning Tool and press each tube so that the seam lies exactly on the edge of the tube. This hides the seam and allows the table runner to be reversible. Trim light tubes to exactly the same length.
  3. Cut the 33" long medium and dark tubes in half to make 28 shorter tubes of each color. The remaining tubes will be cut as needed while weaving.
