This is a very nice bag with a great little hidden surprise…interchangeable bottom covers! You can make the main portion of this purse in a solid color (I went a bit crazy and picked stripes, dots and florals) and then sew a bunch of coordination covers for every time of the year.
This is a very nice bag with a great little hidden surprise…interchangeable bottom covers! You can make the main portion of this purse in a solid color (I went a bit crazy and picked stripes, dots and florals) and then sew a bunch of coordination covers for every time of the year. This pattern goes together easily and when you are finished, you have a wonderful “versatile” purse for all year round. There are multiple pockets on the inside and a secure zippered top. Pick some of your favorite fabrics and you will be on your way! We have the pattern available at the store and it sells for about $10. We also have the hardware pack made especially for this purse for sale at the store as well. This will be a two day class so the charge will be $20. Hope to see you all in class!

For basic purse, lining, pockets and straps :
Fabric A (main fabric) 1 yard
Lining – ½ yard
Batting for basic purse and straps:
¾ yard regular or fusible
Fabric for each reversible purse cover:
Fabric B (one side of cover) 1/3 yard or a fat quarter
Fabric C (other side of cover) 1/3 yard or a fat quarter
Interfacing – 1 ½ yard Deco Bond fusible interfacing

(4) swivel clasps to accommodate 1 ¼” straps or purchase kit at Schiller’s
(2) large buttons
Single fold bias tape (if not making your own)

¼” sewing machine foot, zipper foot and buttonhole foot
New size 14 universal needle or jeans needle

CUTTING FOR BASIC PURSE:
Fabric A – Cut (2) 15” X 11 ½” rectangles
Batting for cover – Cut (2) 15”x 12” rectangles
Pocket 1 – (main fabric) Cut (1) 10” x 10” square
Pocket 2 – (main fabric) Cut (1) 10” x 8” rectangle
Batting for straps – Cut (2) 28” x 1 ¼”
Interfacing for pockets – Cut (1) 10” x 5” and (1) 8” x 5”
**After purchasing the pattern, you will have the templates necessary to cut the covers and the interfacing for the covers**
