I’m going to get up-close and personal now.  When you get out of the shower what do you put on? Do you wrap a big towel on your head that eventually falls off in front of you? Do you put on a big bulky bathrobe in which you can’t even move?  How about your feet? Do you put on old ratty ripped up slippers?  Well, you should come to the Day at the Spa at Schiller’s.  Awww,,, Sorry, no, I’m not going to pamper you. You are going to create a bath wrap, head wrap and matching slippers for yourself.

Each class we will create all three parts of the spa ensemble.  This class is both a sewing and an an embroidery class so don’t forget to bring your embroidery machine and embroidery arm. This project is so easy you will want to make them for your family and friends. Also, if you have a wedding coming up these would be the perfect gift for the bride.

If anyone is interested, I do have two extra pair of white embroiderable slippers size (M) 8 - 9 for the first ones who request them (call the store).  They are $9.00 each. If you want to pick out your own slippers we did find a nice selection at The Sewphisticated Stitcher.

Material List

  • Two large bath towels, I purchased “The Big One” at Kohls. Catch them on sale, then  use your coupons and get them real cheap. I spent $3.50 on each.  If you are larger than a size 14 you might have to buy three towels and sew two together. With the leftovers you can make a pocket on the wrap.
  • 1 pkg 1“ wide elastic.
  • 1 pkg 1” wide hook & loop tape
  • A small piece of elastic ¼” by 6 inches.
  • A strip of fashion fabric for the trim 3.5” X the length of towel plus 1 inch.
  • Embroiderable slippers. They may be purchased at The Sewphisticated Stitcher.  Note: They should have a Velcro side so you can open them.  Please allow a week to receive your slippers
  • An embroidery machine with your design picked out. Your design for your slippers should not be any larger than 21/2” (h) x 3” (w).
  • Embroidery threads
  • Thread to match towel.
  • Invisible thread
  • Pins
  • Basic sewing supplies
  • Water erase marker
  • Floriani Wet & Gone Tacky
  • Water soluble topping
  • Tear away stabilizer

Optional:   Trims, buttons, beads, crystals, ribbons, etc.

Mandatory (when done and at home): Bubble bath, candles, and a bottle of wine. Ahhhh…
