Need a quick project that's easy, fat quarter friendly and can be used for multiple things? MEET HAPPY!  This adorable bag is 9" wide x 7" tall.  Its unique front diagonal pocket is constructed with vinyl which allows for easy viewing and access.  What will you put in your vinyl pocket?  Learn a new technique!  Never put in a zipper before?  Let this project be your first.  I will guide you step by step on installing both zippers.  You'll be amazed at how easy it is.  This is not an in-the-hoop project but does require an embroidery machine if you choose to personalize the bag with a monogram or embroidery design.  As an added bonus Sew Michelle has included a FREE alphabet of her favorite girly font.  This pattern is available as an instant download at www.sewmichelle.com for $9.95.  This will be a one day class so the cost will be $10.00.  I hope to see you in class!

Supply List :

  • Happy Bag pattern (see link for purchase in the write up)
  • One fat quarter of cotton fabric for exterior - Fabric A 
    • One fat quarter of cotton fabric for interior - Fabric B
    •   Please have printed directions with you for class
  • ¼ yd clear vinyl - medium 12 gauge
  • ¼ yd  Pellon Décor Bond stabilizer
  • One 14” long coordinating zipper
  • One 9” long coordinating zipper
  • Marking pen/chalk
  • 12”of 3/8” wide grosgrain ribbon (for zipper pull)
  • Point turner
  • Wonder Clips (optional but helpful)
  • Normal sewing notions
  • Sewing machine in good working order

Embroidery Supplies Needed: We will have an embroidery machine set up here at the store if you would like to monogram your bag

  • Embroidery Hoop
  • Sticky stabilizer
  • Assorted embroidery threads
  • Normal embroidery notions

Cutting Instructions:

  • Fabric A (exterior)
    •   Two 8”x10” pieces
    •   One 2 ½”x10” piece
  • Fabric B (interior)
    •   Two 8”x10” pieces
    •   Eight 1 ½” square pieces
  • Clear Vinyl
    •   One 8”x10” piece (cut the vinyl piece in half diagonally. Use one piece now and save one for another Happy Bag!)
  • Décor Bond
    •   Four 8”x10” pieces
