Have you ever tried paper piecing? It is very fun, therapeutic and easy! The only skill you need is being able to stitch on a drawn line! Paper piecing is a wonderful method to produce accurate patchwork even if you are a beginner. The paper supports the fabric so that it will not stretch, and you do not have to cut the fabric pieces to the exact size or sew with an exact ¼” seam allowance. Simply sew on the lines following the numbered seam sequence and you can be assured of wonderful results! This little collage of springtime blocks is just what we need to warm up our hearts and bring some sunshine into our homes. We will take two days to complete this project, with maybe a little bit of homework… The cost for the class will be $20 but I will be providing the block patterns for you. All you need to do is bring the appropriate fabric and notions and if you don’t already have the foundation paper, we will have it here for purchase at a minimal cost. The blocks are 7” finished and the collage is approximately 20” square. Hope to see lots of you in class!!
Using the right tools and supplies to paper piece makes the process of paper piecing easy and fun. The following items will do just that.

Take a look at the blocks in my collage in the photos section for this class. As I mentioned in the write up, the finished blocks are only 7” so the pieces needed are not overly large. I only purchased fat quarters for this project and completed the collage including the binding with just the fat quarters. The backing was a piece of fabric from the store stash. There is no need to cut any of the fabric before you come to class. Make sure you have enough variety of colors to make the blocks look realistic. Surely you must have SOME fabrics in your stash…
